Daisy Kerr (Vocals, Guitar, Banjo)
Daisy Kerr is a 13-year-old guitarist and vocalist who Bluegrass Today called a “whiz-kid.” Her musical journey started at the age of six when she sang and picked her first songs and tunes with her parents and sister as the El Dorado Family Band. She then joined the Rambling Minors, a popular youth bluegrass band, where she had the opportunity to play live on radio stations, KVMR and KPFA. KQED's California Report featured the band in May 2016. She also recorded an EP-length CD titled Rambling Minors. Currently, Daisy is involved with several collaborations. In addition to North Country Blue, she plays with Daisy and the Walkers and Short People.
Daisy has appeared at several musical festivals and venues. She performed at the California Bluegrass Association Father's Day Festival in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival presented Rambling Minors in 2016 and North Country Blue in 2018. Daisy played guitar with North Country Blue when they opened the Strawberry Music Festival in spring 2018. She appeared with Laurie Lewis in the Carter Family Sing-along at the Freight and Salvage. The Backroom in Berkeley and The Side Door in Sacramento featured bands in which Daisy was a member. Daisy has performed in the Redwood Grove Summer Concert Series at UC Botanical Gardens at Berkeley with North Country Blue and Rambling Minors.
The coordinators of the Kids on Bluegrass program at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, North Carolina has asked Daisy to represented the California Bluegrass Association Youth Program in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. This year, Daisy will have the privilege of playing in the lobby at the Awards Show.
